Juggling Motherhood and Fitness

As all Mom's know, motherhood is a fulltime job!

Our daily activities include having to juggle multiple job titles to get our kids thru the day. We are constantly switching between being a Chef, Teacher, Maid, Uber driver, Guidance Counselor, Psychologist, and Friend.

Combine these activities together into one day and then trying to find time for fitness can obviously become a struggle for any non-superhero moms. The key to my daily routine is to prioritize fitness for yourself FIRST! Why? Because we know that fitness has a wide range of benefits for not only your body but also to keep your mental health balanced.

Doing what’s best for you is doing what’s best for your family.

I often hear moms say they don’t have time for their workouts or they feel selfish taking so much time away from their kids. I have felt this same guilt at times.

But I remain convinced that making fitness a priority is important for everyone’s happiness, and it also sets a healthy example to your children.

Here are a few tips for getting through this mental block…

First don’t give up on yourself or your desire to be fit! A lot of new moms define themselves as being out of shape or overweight… um…. excuse me, you just brought a baby into the world so lose the negative self talk. You are still that fit person who enjoys working out and need to prioritize health, exercise and nutrition now more than ever.

Regaining your fitness doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming. My advice is to start small. Set attainable goals that are focused on working out for a short periods every day. Mix it up with home workouts (you tube has a million) or attending fitness classes where childminding is available. Be sure to schedule these ahead of time and commit to your future leaner self.
